Halfway Up The Stairs

July 25, 2009

halfway down the stairs
is a stair
where i sit.
there isn’t any
other stair
quite like
it.
i’m not at the bottom,
and i’m not at the top;
so this is the stair
where
I always
stop.

halfway up the stairs
isn’t up
and it isn’t down.
it isn’t in the nursery,
it isn’t in town.
and all sorts of funny thoughts
run round my head.
it isn’t really
anywhere –
it’s somewhere else
instead!

    the best part is:

“…and all sorts of funny thoughts
    run round my head
    it isn’t really anywhere
    it’s somewhere else instead!”

    That’s really me!

a light poem that gives a fresh start for my week! Have a nice week, too..

    xoxo

Yes, I love that part too! I always remember it from a tape that my great-grandmother made for all of us grandchildren and great-grandchildren… she had a gift for reading tales and poems, and read that part with such a fun lilt of voice. 🙂

I’m glad it made a sparkle in your day! I’m sorry I haven’t replied long before now… :-/
Hope you have a great week!
